The Bled Island

is one of the most recognizable images of Slovenia. In the past, the island was the sanctuary of the love goddess, Živa. Today, the Church of St. Mary’s Assumption, with the famous wishing bell, invites guests worldwide.
Climb the 100 stairs to the church and ring the wishing bell, which according to the legend fulfils your wishes. You can get to the island by traditional “Pletna” boat, boats, SUP boards, or you can swim there as well.

Bled Castle

Bled Castle stands on a mighty rock 100m above Lake Bled. In the castle, you have the opportunity to get to know the traditional printing procedures in the castle’s printing work, where you can also make your personalized print, visit the museum, the castle smithy, and the wine cellar. You can walk to the castle on a well-maintained hiking trail or take a traditional horse-drawn carriage ride.

Ascent to Ojstrica and Osojnica

from the embankment of Lake Bled, represent a relatively short, easy, and varied trip in nature, which enchants with an extraordinary view of Lake Bled, the Country, and the Karavanke Mountains in the background. Undoubtedly one of the most beautiful sceneries to photograph.

Hill Straža

is a beautiful viewpoint just above the lake. It can be reached on foot or by chairlift. Adrenaline enthusiasts can get down the hill sliding the summer toboggan or visit the Adventure Park situated on the top of the Straža hill.

Vintgar Gorge

Vintgar Gorge is one of the most famous natural attractions near Bled. The 1.6 km long path along the clean and wild river Radovna, its pools, waterfalls, and rapids, ends with the 15 m high Šum waterfall. Great choice, especially on hot summer days.

Pokljuška soteska Gorge

is 2 km long and 40 m deep in its most picturesque part. Visitor trails lead all the way to the most beautiful central part. The main sights are the side gorge, in which a 22 m waterfall springs up in the rain, the Pokljuka hole – a rocky depression with a sunken ceiling, a natural bridge 24 m above the bottom, and narrow and rounded plains.

The cave under Babji zob

The cave under Babji zob is adorned with stalactite formations, including calcite crystals, for which the cave is best known. You can climb the cave along a well-kept forest path and enter it only with a local guide.

Zipline over the river Sava Dolinka is the choice for adrenaline-seeking visitors. Due to the exceptional natural values in the central part, the valley is protected as a natural monument and is part of Natura 2000.

Rafting

The Alpine River Sava Dolinka flows right next to Bled and invites you to a fun rafting descent with its beauties and rapids. In the upper part of the trip, the river is more difficult to access and still relatively intact. This part is called Brje and is protected as a natural monument.

The Enchanted Forest is an adventure for the whole family. The path winds through the forest of the hill Hom above Zasip near Bled and is 2,2 km long. For the trip, you need the Enchanted Forest backpack, in which you will find a story booklet, a wolf’s wooden bracelet, and necklace, a felt wolf’s mask and the Enchanted Forest pen. The story booklet is indispensable on this adventure. As a wolf’s family, you will discover the name and surname of the main villain, who annoys forest animals and villagers through stories, hints, and tasks.

CYCLING TRIPS

The idyllic villages of Selo, Ribno, Koritno, Bodešče, Rečica, and Zasip are perfect destinations for exploring by bike. You can stop at the beekeeper in Selo, cool off in the river Sava near Ribno, visit the church of St. Lenart in Bodešče, stop at the railway station in Rečica and end with the ascent to the viewpoint at the church of St. Catherine situated on the hill Hom near Zasip.

Cycling in the valley of the river Radovna is suitable for everyone. The path leads from the village of Krnica to the museum-style Pocar homestead, which is one of the oldest preserved in the Triglav National Park. Along the way, you can see the 500-year-old Gogal lime tree, Napoleon’s stone from the times of the Illyrian provinces, the Lipnik karst spring, Lake Kreda, and stop for excellent buckwheat štruklji at Psank.

Radovljica and its surroundings offer enjoyable cycling and learning about natural and cultural heritage at the same time. Take a look at the old town of Radovljica, visit the Avsenik Museum in Begunje, explore Kašarija and the birthplaces of influential Slovenian men such as France Prešeren, Matija Čop, Janez Jalen, Fran Saleški Finžgar, and Anton Janša.
